the curious jane story

the snapshot

Curious Jane builds confidence through making things! We run project-based summer camps for girls 6 to 11. And we publish and in-print, ad-free magazine full of our projects to try at home. Everything we do revolves around science + engineering + design.

more of the story

Samantha Razook founded the company in 2009 to give her daughters, and all girls, a place to be creative and inventive in a fun, high-energy environment. Curious Jane started as a camp, and has grown into an educational content company for girls. Over the years, we have added after-school classes, workshops, projects books and our quarterly magazine. We use our treasure troves of DIY projects to serve our own offerings (like camp and the magazine) as well as to work with like-minded organizations, like SmartGirls, Sterling Publishing, Barnes & Noble, Confidence Code for Girls and other for- and non-profits alike.

our culture

The culture of Curious Jane is rooted in collaboration, creative problem solving, a desire to empower girls, continual improvement and personal accountability. And the heart of Curious Jane is our projects, they reflect all of these things, rolled up with our personality and a good dose of fun!

our camps and programs

curious jane camps

Curious Jane all started with *camp* – full days packed with projects revolving around science + engineering + design, with themes like Spy Science, Kitchen Chemistry, and Make-It Wear-It. We rent space at schools and run the programs top to bottom. We work with 1400+ girls and 120+ staff members each summer. We love it!

after-school classes, workshops, events

We use our projects and curriculum in a wide variety of ways – this includes after-school classes held on-site at any elementary school, workshops for fairs or fundraisers, and specialty events.

our magazine and books

curious jane magazine

We make Curious Jane Magazine in-house – top to bottom and cover to cover. Published quarterly, it is in-print, ad-free and full of things to do and make! It is available via subscription and B&N newsstand. Back issues are available via digital download.

curious jane project books

Published by Sterling Children’s Books, our Curious Jane Project Books are packed with DIY fun. Great for families and educators, the books offer a mix of projects in science + engineering + design.
