X-Acto Knife and #11 Blades
we use our x-actos daily at CJ HQ… and we are all professionally trained! (this is true: we have masters degrees in design fields that required a lot of x-acto cutting). this is to say, x-acto knives are an incredibly useful + very serious tool. tips: always use with a metal straight-edge and self-heal cutting mat. stand while cutting and *be careful*… if you are a young (or novice) maker, you can even invest in a mesh glove to protect your hand. use a light touch and multiple strokes. and last but not least, replace blades often (a dull blade will ruin your work) and dispose of blade responsibly. get some practice and nothing will replace an x-acto for use with paper, foam core, cardboard, and more.
