Persistence of Memory Box
overview
use this box as a time capsule or to store mementos. years later, open it up to bring back memories from that specific time! use it to hold letters, objects, or memorabilia that capture a specific period for you to reminisce on in the future.
the melting clock on this memory box is inspired by a painting called The Persistence of Memory, by Spanish artist Salvador Dali. we love it as an addition to our time capsule memory box!

maker checklist
- shoebox
- collage materials (colorful papers, magazines)
- scissors
- glue stick or rubber cement
- air dry modeling clay
- acrylic paints and paintbrush
- school glue or hot glue gun
instructions

collage your box with colorful papers and images or words from magazines and newspapers.
we favor rubber cement for paper-to-paper contact (re-positionable and wrinkle-free) but a glue stick works great too!

shape a melting clock from air dry modeling clay. roll the clay into a thick pancake and press it into an oblong, slightly wavy shape. add the edging, clock hands and any other details in clay while the clock is still flat.

fold it over a counter edge so that it can hold a 90-degree shape while it dries.

paint it with acrylics paints and let dry. we used puff paints for the numbers, quick and easy!

glue the clock to the top of your box so it drips down the side. then fill with keepsakes and tiny treasures.
