double-stick tape

hands-on project

Let's make it.

01

blow up a balloon to about 12- 14 inches, but so it’s not too tight! you don’t want it to pop while you are working with it.

02

secure the bottom of the balloon to a cup with plenty of double-sided tape

note! securing the balloon is a critical step! weight the cup with coins so it remains stable as you work with it.

03

apply a layer of mod podge to the top half of the balloon and sprinkle thoroughly with confetti. shake off the excess and let dry.

04

apply at least 3 more layers of the mod podge and confetti – letting each layer dry completely before applying the next layer.

05

apply one final coat of mod podge over the last layer to seal it in. dry completely.

06

pop the balloon! it will peel away from the paper mache and your bowl is revealed!

07

trim the rim to give it a polished finish.

this was easier to make than we thought! keep your eye on the microwave when you are melting the soap and soften it as needed. the ‘cake slice’ silicone mold makes this a cinch!
